Traditionally jerk seasoning or jerk marinade is made from scotch bonnet (habanero chilies) and allspice.
We wanted to create a recipe for jerk chicken that is Whole30 and Paleo-friendly! A small amount of golden raisins give us the sweetness we need without the added sugar.
Originally this recipe was made in the oven, but we found that the air fryer produces crispy and juicy Jerk Chicken Drumsticks!
Serve this jerk chicken with coconut cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes, and mango salsa.

Tip - The first time I made this recipe, I used coconut oil, but this oil will solidify under refrigeration. I found that avocado oil is the best option.

- Jerk Chicken Wings - Instead of using chicken drumsticks or thighs, you can make jerk chicken wings in the air fryer. Cook until crispy and tender, and serve it as a delicious appetizer or main course.
- Golden Raisins - If this dried fruit is not your jam, try using 4 chopped dates or ¼ cup of coconut aminos.
- Oven - Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place marinated chicken drumsticks on a parchment-lined baking tray and cook for 45 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165ºF.
- Slow Cooker - Place marinated drumsticks in the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours. Transfer to an aluminum foil-lined baking tray and place under the broiler for a couple of minutes or until crispy.

Step 1: In a food processor, combine green onions, raisins, garlic, ginger, spices, thyme, and avocado oil. Pulse the mixture for 1-2 minutes until it reaches a smooth paste.

- 4 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1 whole habanero seeded
- 1 whole ginger 1-inch pieced sliced into rounds

Instructions
