- 2 cups frozen strawberries whole or sliced
- 1 banana fresh or frozen
- ¼ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
Place frozen strawberries in a blender and pulse until finely chopped.
Add in the banana, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup and blend until smooth and creamy.
Transfer the blended smoothie into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings! I used fresh strawberries, granola, coconut, and dark chocolate.
Enjoy right away, or freeze for later.
- Frozen Fruit - To achieve that sorbet-like smoothie bowl frozen fruit is used. If you have fresh strawberries on hand, cut off the stems and freeze them before blending. Frozen fruit will keep your smoothie bowl from melting too quickly.
- Minimal Liquid - When using milk, add it gradually until you reach your desired thickness. Too much liquid can turn your smoothie bowl into a drinkable one that's difficult to eat with a spoon. For a thick and creamy texture, I opted for Greek yogurt instead of milk.
- Blender - I suggest using a high-powered blender, such as a Vitamix or Blendtec, to transform frozen fruit into a smooth and creamy strawberry smoothie bowl. I particularly appreciate how my Vitamix includes a plastic tamper, which helps push the fruit down toward the blades, resulting in a thick smoothie.
- Storage - Make a large batch and portion them into small glass bowls for a healthy snack. You'll need to let them sit out at room temperature for 15 minutes to soften.
